After a whirlwind of a week, I got a call today from Berkeley asking me to teach two classes for the quarter, starting next week. Phew! I am much relieved and very excited. One class, “Foundations of Critical Reading,” is the counterpart to the writing course I just taught, and the other, a “Learning Community” course co-taught with a science professor, is something completely new to me. I’m very eager to get the syllabus and learn more about what I’ll be doing.
I raise my glass and propose a toast to all adjuncts out there – stay strong, stay flexible, and have a back-up plan just in case!
